is a French artist specializing in installations, textile constructions,
sculpture and photo-histories.
or, as Catherine Charreyre named her art-project, “Traveling Coats”.
Either way, the title suggests that the garments we use for traveling
store in their folds images, memories and emotional impressions about
the places we visit and the experiences we get.
They are soaked in the spirit of our lives, of everything we see and
everything we feel. They also protect us from the hardships of daily
existence and allow us to move freely forward.
Loose transparent garments remind us of the historical covers of the
past that are floating like ghosts from a fairy-tail and of an adventurer’s
diary, where each page becomes part of a woven fabric that takes us
back to more protected time and place.
