Oleg Kievsky

Oleg Kievsky lives in Moscow and works in his own studio in the center of the city on Leningradsky prospekt. He began his studies at the Penza Art College in the Sculpture department and subsequently at the Surikov Academy of Fine Art. Since that time he has exhibited widely both in so|o and group exhibitions.

With respect to his works, Oleg says: In my opinion an artist must have an infinite desire to create incontrovertibly new works which will be infused with a charge of incredible fantasy. It is a great pleasure to create three-dimentional forms and let them find their proper place in their spatial environment. I am deeply convinced that a sculpture must be encumbered with idea. Without it it will be common, insipid and nothing can compensate for its absence. The ideas of humanity, free perception of the world and free self-expression are very close to me and give me hope for the creation of new works.

He took part in numerous international exhibitions in Warsaw (Poland), in Germany, in Kirkines and Oslo (Norway) and many others.

In 1994 the French oil company TOTAL sponsored an international program for Russian and Norwegian artists at the Kirkines Art Center in Norway and invited him to participate on a three-month grant. The culmination of the project was an exhibition of the works of the participating artists; this exhibition toured a number of Norwegian cities, and was subsequntly shown at the Repin Art Academy of St. Petersburg.

His most recent exhibits took place in MarchAugust 2000 at the Central House of Artists in Moscow.
